Review of “Salomon-Song: Die Ballade von den Prominenten” (1928)
Bertolt Brecht (writer).
Read in its original language and in Swedish-language prose translation.
I have read the 1928 version, the self-conscious exile version, and the 1941 remake in Mutter Courage. The exile version is the only good one, where Brecht comments wrily on his own celebrity.
