Review of Shame (2015)

Moving picture, 5.0 hours

Seen in 2017.

Review refers to the first season.

Contemporary Norwegian teenage life.

Drama verging on soap opera. I went into it hoping for a Fucking Åmål (1998), but the subject matter is considerably brighter. Novel production techniques conceal a dearth of realism. Details of relationship drama hold center stage, to the detriment of characterization and friendship, but the craftsmanship is good.
