Review of Solitary (2016)

Moving picture, 81 minutes

Seen in 2017.

Prisoners and staff at a US “supermax” prison.

Intelligently made. It gives a good picture of the horrors of the institution, its general ineffectiveness and the brokenness of its society, but at the same time, it does not conceal why Richard Pryor exclaimed “Thank God we’ve got penitentiaries!”
