Review of “Some Words with a Mummy” (1845)
Edgar Allan Poe (writer).
Read in 2022.
A satire of US hubris, and a good one, written in the pro-real-world spirit of “The Thousand-and-Second Tale of Scheherazade” (1845), but the proto-sfnal framework and the slapstick humour are weak.
