Review of Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting Edge of Recorded Music (2016)

Moving picture

Seen in 2018.

The history of recorded music, primarily from the perspective of music producers like George Martin, who are the stars of the first episode.

It is as its worst in episode 3—on vocals—which is mostly the boring star tributes I expect of a conventional music documentary. The production stuff is more relatable. On the subject of vocals though, it’s always fun to hear Giorgio Moroder’s voice after his Daft Punk track.
