Review of The Brothers Lionheart (1977)
Cool mix of extreme escapism and politics. It follows a pattern of Germanic fantasy, almost being adaptable as a story of H. P. Lovecraft’s Dreamlands. The Katla scenes, in particular, evoke Lang’s Die Nibelungen (1924) with more astute camera work and less money.
