Review of The Tatami Galaxy (2010)
A nameless loser college student goes through a series of parallel possible lives on campus, struggling with his self-image and his tortured relationship with an imp in the engineering department.
Absurd college memoir by the arty Yūasa Masaaki at Madhouse. Good music, nice characters, some moments of good tragicomedy, and the visual style is well adapted. The whole thing was a welcome break from contemporary “genre” anime, but this is the show’s greatest merit. The motormouth protagonist gets a bit tiresome.
