Review of “Theogony” (ca. 730 BCE)

Text

Hesiod (writer).

Read in 2026.

A synthesis of early mythologies among Greek-speaking groups of people.

Though it is a valuable source in the study of religion, much of this epic poem is just a boring set of geneologies. The more narrative parts are less poetic than “Works and Days” (ca. 700 BCE).
