Review of They Came from Beyond Space (1967)

Moving picture, 85 minutes

Seen in 2022.

A more spectacular and entertaining The Quatermass Experiment (1953) mashed up with Unearthly Stranger (1963), in vivid colour. The stage design is charming, especially the black-and-yellow elevator. Colander-wearing Anglo-Pakistani Zia Mohyeddin makes a brilliant sidekick and the stunts are surprisingly energetic. There is relatively little coherent subtext, but the kitsch value is solid.
