Review of Time of Eve (2008)
A guy who does not treat robots as people encounters a coffee shop that enforces Turing-style ignorance of whether or not its customers are human.
Low-key cyberpunk. An unusually effective treatment of the traditional jinzō ningen cognitive meltdown, by which I mean the dissonance resulting from competing human cerebral modules on perceiving an entity that matches schemata for living human and non-living things. The androids here are not as crushingly implausible as in many other examples of the subgenre, and there are some nice characters.
