Review of “To F——s S. O——d” (1835/1845)
Edgar Allan Poe (writer).

Poe reused this poem a few times under different titles, with minor revisions. The last of these is the most awkward, blanking out “Frances S. Osgood”. The sentiment is not feminist, but in the vein of advice to a series of younger women written by a man born in 1809, it is relatively inoffensive.
