Review of “Uomo del mio tempo” (1949)
Salvatore Quasimodo (writer).
Read in 2022.
Read in its original language and in Swedish-language prose translation.
An exhortation to abandon the morality of the Old Testament (ca. 164 BCE), exemplified by an allusion to Cain and Abel. Ironically, the exhortation itself is based on the New Testament (ca. 110 CE), but the post-WW2 imagery is good, and the poem is from the realist collection La vita non è sogno (Life is Not a Dream).
