Review of Waking Sleeping Beauty (2009)

Moving picture, 86 minutes

Seen in 2017.

The management of Disney’s animation division from 1984 to 1994.

I would have preferred to see more of the artists’ perspective, particularly the unseen losing faction that favoured the relatively mature themes of The Black Cauldron (1985) and opposed the bright musicals for smaller children. Not a single word on Japanese competition either. Still, it’s less partisan than The Reluctant Dragon (1941).
