Review of Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy (2021)

Moving picture, 121 minutes

Seen in 2025.

Three short stories about women and love in contemporary Japan. In each one, information is accidentally revealed to the wrong person. In the last story, the revelation takes the form of a computer virus that sends everyone’s email to everyone else, bringing down the Internet before the story opens.

The first story is by far the weakest, with its unrealistic characters breaking the fourth wall in a pedestrian love triangle. The second story has good bathos in a surprising twist, and the last one is heartwarming.
