The difference between this and “Wandering Willie’s Tale” (1824) is that Poe’s idea of the (here: Irish) language is a purportedly funny stereotype like his idea of a German accent in “The Devil in the Belfry” (1839). This one is higher in effort than the latter, but pointless.
