A branch-office representative of a Japanese weapons manufacturer is sent to the front to repair defective rifles his company has delivered.
A superficial but effective metaphor of salaried work in Japan as equivalent to trench warfare between two foreign nations so similar that the soldiers can hardly tell one uniform from the other.
