Review of Gravity (2013)

Moving picture, 91 minutes

Seen in 2014.

Despite its ambitions in other respects, Gravity contains the usual errors in its presentation. Objects passing by the shuttle move with the relative speed of a car passing by a parked vehicle on Earth. When Stone disconnects herself from the robot arm, she’s thrown off as if there were something powering the rotation of the arm, exerting a force on it, but there isn’t. For a movie actually titled “gravity”, the lack of credible Newtonian physics is disappointing, but it’s a nice, pretty thriller with a pleasant space theme.
