Review of “Legend of the Forest” (1987)

Moving picture, 30 minutes

Tezuka Osamu (writer-director).

A flying squirrel grows up to kill a hunter, and various sprites fail to negotiate with a lumber company.

Two independent “environmentalist” revenge dramas. The experimental impressionist animation of the squirrel story is nice, but the whole idea of portraying nature as cute and ready for bloody vengeance is perverse.
