Review of “Miniature” (2019)

Moving picture, 59 minutes

Seen in 2020.

I saw a 59-minute cut on SVT.

An overview of 3D miniature art and entertainment in the Western world, with particular emphasis on fine-scale museum pieces, English miniature villages starting with Bekonscot, the Braun brothers’ Miniatur Wunderland, Jimmy Cauty’s dystopian police-themed exhbition in the London Underground, Slinkachu, and the Hypotopia project.

The attempt to interpret miniatures as a general phenomenon is somewhat perfunctory, but the art itself is captivating. Willard Wigan was almost completely cut out of the TV version, being somewhat in a league of his own.
