Review of They Live (1988)
A construction worker discovers that weird creatures rule by illusion, subliminal messages, control of the police and crass commercialism.
SF action and dystopia, with social commentary through escapism. The premise of the narrative is a step up from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984). The choice of heroes here is rather different than the multi-talented BB: John and Frank are as dumb and as durable as bricks.
