Bubastis

The golden faction in Cthulhu Wars

A cat among cats.

For the literary source of the faction, read “The Cats of Ulthar” (1920). It’s thin. If Lovecraft had lived another 60 or 70 years and experienced the Internet, he may have liked the cat pictures, but cats are not a big player in the Cthulhu Mythos. In the official rules of the game, the faction is obnoxious, often preying on players who are already weak.

All the factions that are sold separately from the base game look like this on the outside, except that the Bubastis box (this one) is unusually shallow and Daemon Sultan is unusually deep.

This printed and hand-tinted Spellbook displays a house rule published by Matthew Folger on BoardGameGeek. Unlike the faction’s standard Spellbooks, I painted this one in the gold that is the faction’s true colour.
