The units of a terrain system
This is a list of interconnecting terrain modules I have built for wargaming at home, starting in 2007.
Legend
The modules have a set of standardized interfaces. Each of these can be described by a code.
| Code | Interpretation | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 土 | Built-in base, 10 mm tall. A base measures 300 × 300 mm if produced since 2019. Earlier modules are 298 × 298 mm. |

| 川 | River to edge. Implies 土 if 旧 is not stated. | 3川: Three-way river piece. |
| 曲 | River bend. Implies 2川 and that the indicated edges are adjacent. | |
| 直 | Straight river. Implies 2川 and that the indicated edges are opposed. | |
| 坂 | Gentle slope along edge. | 土2坂: Outer corner of hill. |
| 崖 | Cliff face along edge. |
坂崖: Outer corner between a cliff and a slope; no base. 崖坂: The same, mirrored. Such corners are chiral. |
| 階 | Unbroken 30 mm level along one edge. | 2坂階: Medial slope. |
| 凸 | Bump(s) in the middle. | |
| 凹 | Hole(s) in the middle. | 土凸凹: Something with raised edges over a pit that digs into the base. |
| Code | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 旧 | Equivalent to 土 except that the base height is 40 mm. In 旧川 modules, the water surface is at a height of 10 mm; in newer modules it’s 3 mm. |
| 倍 | Double-sized module. These measure 298 × 598 mm. Implies 旧. |
