Gainax
A tag for organizing content
Gainax (Wikipedia) is an animation studio founded in 1985 by brilliant geek hobbyist-artists who couldn’t handle money. It took until 1999 for its president and tax accountant to be arrested for accounting fraud and tax evasion. Continuous budget difficulties prompted extensive merchandising and a slew of softcore schlock following a reorganization for commercial purposes around the year 2000, ending in bankruptcy in 2024.
